Original consultation

We want your views on amendments to the Adoption Agencies (Wales) Regulations 2005

Consultation description

We are proposing:

  • to establish a two-stage process for the assessment and approval of prospective adopters
  • to reduce the time in which adoption agencies must refer details of prospective adopters and of children to be placed for adoption to the Adoption Register for Wales
  • to enable ‘authorised officers’ to witness the consent of a parent or guardian to placement or adoption orders, where the parent or guardian lives outside of England and Wales

During the consultation period we will be holding information events:

  • 6 November in Cardiff
  • 8 November in Wrexham
