- cafes
- takeaways
- hotels
- supermarkets and other shops selling food directly to consumers
It also applies to schools, hospitals and residential care homes.
Each business receives a rating when inspected by a local authority food safety officer. This rating is based on the standards of compliance with food hygiene law.
