Cerys MatthewsCerys has always been more than just a rock star, her main ambition being to seek out great Welsh folk songs and find new audiences for them beyond the borders of Wales.

As well as being an anchor presenter for BBC1’s " The One Show " she produces and presents her very unique Sunday morning radio show on BBC 6Music. She also makes and presents documentaries for BBC 2 and BBC Radios 2 and 4, most recently for Radio 4 two programmes on the " Welsh M1 " . She has a monthly column for Songlines magazine and writes for The Guardian, The Times and the Sunday Times.

She is also an author and her best selling children’s book "Tales from the Deep "is to be followed up with "Gelert, A Man's Best Friend". Her love of Wales and Welsh music recently helped showcase Wales to the world as Artistic Director for the opening ceremony of the WOMEX 2013 conference in Cardiff.  

Cerys supports other Welsh artforms and is patron of Ballet Cymru and the Dylan Thomas Society, as well as being a judge of the Dylan Thomas literary prize in 2010 and 2012 and is Vice President of Shelter Cymru
