Enterprise award 2015 winner

Mario Kreft MBE has been shortlisted for his work in setting up and developing the Pendine Park Care Organisation in Wrexham.

Mario started on the work in 1985 with his wife Gill when they couldn’t find care homes that matched their requirements when they were searching for homes for their elderly grandparents. Pendine Park Care Organisation places a great emphasis on the happiness and well-being of their residents and the company has gone from strength to strength over the past 30 years. It now employs more than 600 people in 7 care homes, a domiciliary care company, Independent Living and their in-house Teaching Care Centre. Construction of a £7m bilingual centre of excellence for dementia care and 16 care apartments on the site of the former community hospital, Ysbyty Bryn Seiont in Caernarfon is underway and should be open in September 2015.

Mario is Chair of Care Forum Wales (CFW) which represents the independent care sector in Wales and is the founder of the prestigious Wales Care Awards. Mario was awarded an MBE in 2010 for his contribution to social care in Wales and he was named as one of the 50 most influential people in social care in the UK by magazine, Caring Business.
