Robert Lloyd Griffiths is the Director of the Institute of Directors (IoD) for Wales, a post he has held since 2009 following earlier career roles in advertising, PR, marketing and communications.
In his role with the IoD, he is responsible for representing the interests of members in Wales; the implementation IoD policies, standards and initiatives; the promotion of the profile of the IoD; engagement with business across Wales; developing and maintaining productive relationships with Government, academia, the media and other key stakeholders.
He chaired the Welsh Government’s Micro Business Task and Finish Group and now chairs the Welsh Government’s Strategic Board overseeing Business Wales which offers support to businesses throughout Wales. He is a member of both The First minister’s Council for Economic Renewal and The Secretary of State for Wales’ Business advisory Group and also chairs/is a member of a number of Welsh Government review bodies and task and finish groups. He holds trustee/board positions with a variety of Welsh charities including among others The Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity and Arts and Business Cymru Wales and is an officer of the Order of St John (OStJ).
Robert has a degree in Banking and Finance from UWIST (University of Wales Institute of Science and Technology) – now Cardiff Business School, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
He was awarded an OBE in the 2014 Queen’s Birthday honours for both services to the Economy in Wales and for voluntary services.
