We commissioned Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol to develop a Welsh-medium Action Plan for Post-16.
The priority areas identified by the plan are:
- increasing the number of bilingual staff in colleges and training providers
- improving the availability of Welsh-medium teaching resources
- promoting the opportunities and benefits to learners in Welsh Government priority areas
The Coleg will be taking the plan forward in partnership with Welsh Government.
Background to the plan
The Cabinet Secretary for Education announced a task and finish group to review the activities of the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol in 2016. The group considered if the remit of the Coleg should include post 16 Welsh medium education.
Our response to the report was published in December 2017. We approved the recommendation to expand the Coleg’s remit to include post-16. The Welsh-medium action plan was commissioned as part of their new responsibility.
